Welcome

This is the site of the Federation of Provincial Press Clubs of the Philippines, Inc., the nationwide association of press clubs and media organizations found in almost every province in the country.

The FPPCP celebrates its 50th Foundation Anniversary this year, reminiscing the events that led to the establishment of this grouping that spinned off from the National Press Club. Media stalwarts back in 1963 decided to organize provincial media institutions and practitioners into the FPPCP and gave the federation a seat in the NPC board.

Now, the FPPCP will hold the First Countryside Press Congress coinciding with its 50th anniversary. Details may be read from other sections of this blog. A registration form may also be downloaded from the mirror site, which members and others interested may print and fill up, before sending by email to pressclubsfed@yahoo.com, or faxing to (02) 313-5302.

FPPCP celebrates 50th Anniversary

The Federation of Provincial Press Clubs of the Philippines is celebrating its 50th Foundation Anniversary this year, with an assembly of club members and media stakeholders slated for December 5-7, 2013, in the province of Aklan. This celebration will feature the First Countryside Press Congress which will gather some 200 media practitioners, publishers, editors, broadcasters, reporters and correspondents, and advertising and public relations professionals to discuss timely issues impacting the journalism profession and the media industry, and affecting the country as a whole.

Most of the discussions on the press congress activity will be held at the Aklan State University (ASU) in Banga, Aklan, a five-minute ride from downtown Kalibo, and that’s where the delegates will be housed for the first two days (Dec. 5-6).

After the congress plenary in the morning of December 6 – and the finalizing of the Aklan Manifesto – some Aklan associations and individuals are treating the guests of the province to a trip to two outstanding mangrove preservation projects near Kalibo, one way to remind media professionals of the significant role they play in environmental protection. They will also be treated to a river cruise in New Washington, the hometown of the late Jaime Cardinal L. Sin.

On December 7, the delegates will take a boat ride to Boracay for the Awarding and Closing Ceremonies. Lots of free time are available especially for first-timers to see the island and the sights that thousands of foreign tourists come back for again and again. Delegates may opt to stay overnight and check out on December 8, a Sunday.

The Aklan Press Club and the Boracay Global Press Corps are the media partners, while the Aklan State University and the Boracay Foundation, Inc. and institutional partners.

Registration forms will be sent out to the members of the FPPCP and will be posted on this wesbite for interested parties to download and send back to the Provincial Press Center in Manila, home of the FPPCP. Early-bird registrants will enjoy discounts in the registration fee, as well as – understandbly – finer room assignments.
